Alright, here’s a brief post of some recent Fata Morgana no Yakata news.
Novectacle’s dream of having Fata Morgana no Yakata available to play to a wider audience is continuing to expand. Not only have the original PC game been ported to iOS and recently localized for a Western audience to enjoy, the game is now getting ported to a video game console, Nintendo’s 3DS. Fata Morgana no Yakata 3DS version will be published by FuRyu in their new doujin (indie) visual novel label, Kataruhito. Novectacle is pushing FuRyu to not censor anything in the port, though maybe there will be a few vulgar words that are toned-down a bit, but their efforts to not censor some particular CGs seem to be effective. Novectacle is also working to maintain the image and sound quality when porting, so there may be some slight differences.
Speaking of differences, some CGs and sprites will be upgraded and remade. We get a glimpse of The Maid’s brand new remade sprite.
The new sprite does look more classy and redefined, and the color pops more compared to the original. What I particularly like about this new sprite is The Maid’s jade colored eyes, which is more pronounced. I’m glad they didn’t decrease The Maid’s bust size to make it more “consumer friendly” since that is a part of her character and charm. So far, I’m pleased with the outcome although I had no problem with the original sprite. Guess they gotta change it up a bit here and there.
The 3DS ported version will be available to purchase on July 27 at a price of 950 yen. Novectacle is considering making the 3DS port purchasable on PC afterwards, so we may have more news of that in the future. I most likely won’t get the 3DS version, but if it’s ported to the Playstation Vita, I may consider purchasing the game again. With all these ports, who knows, maybe there will even be a VR experience of Fata Morgana no Yakata in the future (oh who am I kidding.)
Novectacle also posted a message regarding their future activities. Moyataro’s (the illustrator of Fata Morgana no Yakata) health is not in the best condition and even as he’s slowly taking his time redrawing art for the 3DS, the team think it’s best if he took a long term break to recover. His art has been improving over the years and I was looking forward to more, so this is very saddening news. Best wishes to him, and I hope Moytarou’s health improves to the fullest and continue bringing out his best artwork in the future.
In regards to Novectacle’s new work, it might be Fata Morgana related. They’re keeping it undercover, but they are progressing. Novectacle says this new work will have a different taste from the usual. As I wrote in my previous news post, I had hoped they’d work on something entirely new, but after knowing about Moyataro’s condition, it’s safe to say they probably have to continue expanding the series even further. I just hope this different taste is amusing.
Novectacle will also not appear in this summer’s Comiket since they don’t have anything new to bring to the table. Seems like they’re planning to release a short story collection (finally). They’re not sure about next year’s Comiket either though they hope to release something in the future.
Also, the long awaited second character ranking poll mini game will finally, FINALLY, be released this or next month. Man, have I waited an entire year for this, so my excitement is finally coming back. I thought they’d forget about it with their busy schedule, but glad they didn’t.
Oh, and on another note and late news, MangaGamer is planning to release the fandisc of Fata Morgana no Yakata, -Another Episodes-. Seems like the original game garnered enough positive reception to entail the localization of the fandisc, so do look forward to that.
That’s it for Fata Morgana news. I know I’ve been inactive lately, and am sorry to readers who had hoped I’d continue posting on a regular basis. There may be a few posts here and there, so I’m not entirely gone from the scene yet. So stay tuned and thank you to everyone who have visited this small blog.
